Chemical peels are available in Orange County, but are they the best for you? A chemical peel is used to assist with painful skin diseases and other skin related factors. ‘Refreshing’ Peels in OC
These are the least painful and the easiest type of cosmetic procedure for the body to tolerate. Your dermatologist will place the peel upon you quickly and evenly to administer it correctly. They will watch this process to determine when is the best time to remove the peel. Afterward, your skin will be red and may become scaly or dry. It could take up to a week to heal. You will need to use a lotion or cream on your skin, will also need to use sunscreen every day. Concealing makes up can be used either immediately or the day after the peel depending on the person. There isn’t a necessary follow up, but it could take several peels to get the correct results.
‘Medium’ Peels
This peel is more vigorous. This can take up to two weeks to heal – you could develop blisters, swelling, and discomfort before your skin crusts and flakes off. At-home treatment is more extensive as well: you’ll need to soak for required amounts of time and apply ointment afterward. Take antiviral medicine, avoid the sun completely and apply lotion or cream regularly. After about five to seven days, you can wear camouflage makeup and follow up visits are required afterward.
‘Deep’ Peels
These peels need a surgical setting. You will be placed under anesthesia for the procedure. You will be bandaged and recovery takes 14 to 21 days. You’ll go through a series of soaks, ointments, moisturizer, and antiviral medicine, and you’ll have to totally avoid the sun for up to 6 months. Wait 2 weeks before applying makeup, there are follow-up visits starting immediately after.
