What type of skin care products should I use for my child?

Parents are encouraged to use dermatology-approved skin care products on their children that do not contain many “additives” such as fragrances, preservatives, or artificial dyes. This is especially true for babies. Since many children suffer from skin disorders such as atopic dermatitits (eczema) and seborrheic dermatitits (cradle cap), their skin is extremely sensitive and will likely become irritated from products containing additives.

When it doubt, choose bland skin care products for your children

When choosing skin care products for a baby (or any one for that matter) BLAND is best. If a product is pink, yellow, blue, purple, red, orange or any other bright color that definitely contains dye it is not likely very good for your skin. If a product has a very strong odor, it also likely contains alcohol based fragrances that are also extremely drying and not recommended for topical skin care use.
