At OC Skin Institute, we are pleased to offer our patients an FDA approved treatment called Ultherapy or Ulthera. It is an ultrasound treatment that is used to lift and tighten skin in a non-invasive way. This means no surgery is involved which also means there is no need for downtime or recovery.
The targeted areas for treatment can include the face, neck, below the chin and the eyebrows. Fine lines and wrinkles can also be treated on the décolletage.
Benefits of Ultherapy
With ultrasound imaging, we can track the therapy is reaching its intended destination in the appropriate layer of tissue. The energy from the ultrasound boosts collagen levels in the skin and restores skin elasticity and tightness.
What is Involved During Ultherapy
Very simply put, the targeted skin is cleaned and prepped for treatment. Ultrasound gel is applied and the proper placement of the ultrasound applicator is determined. The treatment then begins as the ultrasound releases energy to the intended areas below the skin.
Treatment Times
Depending on the areas being treated, treatment times vary. For instance, if you are treating only the neck and face, treatment usually lasts an hour to 90 minutes. A chest treatment by itself can take about 30 minutes. Ultrasound therapy or Ultherapy can treat the face down to the chest. Results can typically be seen 2-3 months after a single treatment after collagen has been boosted.
Side Effects of Ultherapy Treatment
Some redness, swelling or tingling may be seen post-treatment. However, all symptoms should subside as they are temporary. Very rarely do numbness or slight bruising occur.
